Amsterdam Hangout: HappyHappyJoyJoy
You do like Asian street food ? Then we do have something in common. I don’t know what it is but my heart beats faster when I see dishes such as Pho noodle soup and Dim Sum on a restaurant’s menu. Combined with a colourful set-up and really nice staff, we discovered all this at HappyHappyJoyJoy. Located in the West of Amsterdam near the Kinkerstraat, this cantine-type restaurant by the famous Dutch cook Julius Jaspers is the perfect place if you are looking for a variety of both warm and cold small sized dishes. Yes, this is a place where you can share your food and taste more than just one flavour 🙂
On the weekend, HappyHappyJoyJoy can get easily packed so you may better reserve a table. During weekdays at lunch time though, luck will be on your side, especially if you are planning to come here with children. With its kitchen being open all day long, I went here with a friend of mine and our kids on an ordinary Monday to enjoy a delicious and 2 hour long lunch. The spot was almost empty and we had plenty of space for us, allowing the kids to eat but also to play (and run around) without annoying anyone. The staff was very child-friendly and offered colouring books and crayons.
Luckily, the little bird loves Pho noodle soup as much as I do so we are surely coming more often to this happy place.
